The resistance of the human cornea to indentation was measured by comparing the actual force used to that predicted from intraocular pressure and the area of the indentation base and by direct measurement on isolated corneas. The bending force increased with indentation depth at a rate of 1 Gm. per millimeter indentation. Viscoelastic behavior of the corneea was noted.
