The Inhibitory Effect of Pentobarbital Na on Aqueous Humor Formation

STANLEY J. CEVARIO 1 and FRANK J. MACRI 1

1 Clinical Branch, National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health, United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Bethesda, Md. 20014

The normal in vivo aqueous humor turnover of the Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) was inhibited by pentobarbital Na. Phencyclidine and phencyclidine plus urethan appeared to have no adverse effects on the aqueous humor dynamics of the Rhesus monkey and would be the desirable anesthetic in experiments related to the eye.
