Effect of Aqueous-Venous Shunt on Rabbit Eyes

The response of the normal rabbit eye to an aqueous-venous shunt has been briefly described in a previous report1. The procedure consisted in establishing a shunt between the anterior chamber and an extraocular vein located under Tenon's capsule by means of a fine polyethylene tube. The animals were observed for a period of no longer than 12 weeks. Remits were encouraging enough to warrant studies over a longer period of time, modifications of technique, and an investigation of the effect of this operation on rabbit eyes with hereditary buphthalmia
